Crotone authorities close restaurant over hygiene violations

As part of the national and transnational 'Focus 'Ndrangheta' plan, law enforcement agencies conducted extensive inspections in Crotone, Italy. The operation involved the State Police, Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza, Coast Guard, Local Police, and the ASP (Provincial Health Authority).

During the inspections, authorities identified significant sanitary issues at a local food and beverage establishment. Inspectors discovered an infestation of cockroaches and located an unauthorized food warehouse on the same street that failed to meet legal requirements.

As a result, the ASP ordered the immediate closure of both the restaurant and the unauthorized warehouse until minimum hygienic and structural standards are restored. Administrative fines totaling 27,000 euros were issued, including penalties for poor cleanliness and failure to update sanitary documentation.
