Crotone authorities join legal action in Teorema corruption probe
The Province and Municipality of Crotone have formally decided to join as civil parties in the criminal proceedings stemming from the ‘Teorema’ investigation. Conducted by the Guardia di Finanza and coordinated by the Crotone Public Prosecutor's Office, the investigation targets a suspected illicit system involving public procurement and contract assignments within the Province of Crotone.
The prosecution alleges criminal association, corruption, forgery, and fraud. The trial for several individuals, including former provincial Vice President Fabio Manica, lawyer Francesco Manica, entrepreneur Giacomo Combariati, and professionals Luca Bisceglia and Rosaria Luchetta, is scheduled to begin on October 30 at the Crotone Tribunal.
In a separate but related legal development in the region, authorities have seized assets exceeding 4.5 million euros following an investigation into fraudulent bankruptcy, money laundering, and tax crimes. Sixteen people are under investigation for allegedly causing the collapse of three companies by accumulating over six million euros in liabilities between 2016 and 2023. Investigators claim a local entrepreneur used straw men to manage a corporate network designed to divert assets away from creditors and the state.
