Crotone authorities seize untraceable seafood and shut down illegal business

As part of the Focus ’Ndrangheta national and transnational plan, coordinated inter-agency inspections in Casabona and Rocca di Neto have uncovered several regulatory violations. The operation, ordered by Crotone Police Chief Renato Panvino, involved the State Police, Guardia di Finanza, Coast Guard, and local health authorities.

During the inspections, authorities identified an illegal barbershop operating without a business name or VAT number. The owner was issued a 500 euro administrative fine, and a report will be sent to the mayor to ensure the immediate cessation of the activity.

In a separate intervention at a restaurant, the Coast Guard and health inspectors seized approximately six kilograms of seafood products that lacked the required traceability documentation. The restaurant was fined 2,000 euros, and the seized goods are slated for destruction. Health inspectors also noted structural and hygienic deficiencies at the establishment, requiring the owner to provide missing documentation and follow specific sanitary prescriptions.
