Crotone bans municipal water consumption in four areas due to health risks
The Municipality of Crotone has issued an emergency ordinance suspending the use of municipal water for human consumption at four specific locations due to potential health risks. The decision follows partial analytical results from the Provincial Health Agency (ASP) of Crotone, which indicated that water samples collected from the municipal network did not meet regulatory standards set by legislative decrees 18/2023 and 102/2025.
The affected areas include Piazza Mazzini, Piazza Immacolata, Via Giovanni Paolo II, and Piazza Ferrovia dello Stato. The non-compliance identified by the Hygiene, Food, and Nutrition Service of the ASP constitutes a potential risk to human health, prompting Mayor Vincenzo Voce to sign the precautionary measure.
SoriCal SpA, the integrated water service manager, has been ordered to immediately suspend water distribution in the affected areas. The ban will remain in effect until further notice and until new analytical results confirm that the water fully complies with legal parameters. SoriCal has been tasked with conducting urgent technical assessments to identify the source of the contamination and implement remediation measures. Local police and prevention department inspectors will monitor the area to ensure compliance with the ban.
