Crotone hospital project demands transparency for 300 million euro hub

The 'Diritto alla salute' citizen committee is calling for transparency regarding the construction of a new hospital complex in Crotone. The project, valued at 300 million euros, is intended to serve as a high-level healthcare hub for the region.

The funding is part of a national healthcare building program involving an institutional agreement between the State, Regions, and Inail. Under this arrangement, Inail provides the initial capital, which the Calabria Region will repay at a subsidized rate, eventually becoming the owner of the facility.

The project must undergo several administrative stages involving the Ministry of Health, the State-Regions Conference, Inail, and the Calabria Region. Once funds are unlocked and the project is drafted, the Region and the Asp di Crotone must prepare an executive project for Inail's evaluation. The committee has expressed concerns regarding the selection of the urban area by the Municipality of Crotone, emphasizing that the site must be suitable and free from hydrogeological or archaeological constraints.
