Crotone police and coast guard clamp down on illegal coastal activities

The Polizia di Stato deployed a large‑scale operation between Crotone and Cirò Marina, checking 714 people, 314 vehicles and issuing numerous road‑code fines and administrative sanctions. The action also led to the permanent closure of a beachfront bar for health‑code violations and a €173 fine for illegal public‑space occupation.

Carabinieri in Crotone arrested three local men after a dispute erupted when a teenager on an electric bike collided with a 9‑year‑old girl on the seafront. All three were taken to hospital, released and placed under house arrest.

The Capitaneria di Porto filed four complaints for illegal occupation of public maritime land, seizing about 350 m² of unauthorised structures in Crotone, Crucoli and Strongoli and bringing charges against four individuals.

In nearby Messina, the Guardia Costiera continued its “Mare e Laghi Sicuri 2026” campaign, levying roughly €5,000 in fines for beach‑safety breaches and rescuing three teenagers from strong currents in the Strait of Messina.
