Crotone prosecutors seek prison terms in Glicine trial

Prosecutors from the Catanzaro District Anti-Mafia Directorate have requested prison sentences for numerous defendants in the Glicine trial currently held at the Crotone Court. The investigation targets a suspected political-business network accused of influencing local and regional administrations, managing appointments and contracts, and directing electoral outcomes through ties to the 'ndrangheta, specifically the Megna clan.

Among the political figures facing sentencing requests are former Calabria Region President Mario Oliverio, for whom 6 years were requested; former PD deputy Nicola Adamo, with a request of 4 years and 6 months; and former regional councilor Vincenzo Sculco, for whom 21 years were requested due to alleged involvement in a criminal association. Flora Sculco also faces a requested sentence of 5 years.

The prosecution has requested sentences for 96 out of 100 defendants, totaling 650 years of imprisonment. The highest individual request was 30 years for Domenico Megna, identified as the leader of the Megna clan. Additionally, the trial covers alleged illegalities in waste management, with requests for Giovanni and Raffaele Vrenna, owners of the Columbra landfill and leaders of Crotone Calcio, as well as former regional officials.
