Crotone school principal accused of tearing down inclusion poster

The FLC CGIL Calabria trade union has filed a complaint following an incident at the Barlacchi-Lucifero Institute in Crotone, where a school principal allegedly tore down a poster reading ‘A scuola nessuno è straniero’ (At school, no one is a stranger).

The union claims the principal justified the removal by stating that the students were taking a ‘political position’ through the message. FLC CGIL strongly contests this, arguing that promoting inclusion and equal dignity is not a partisan act but a fundamental principle of the Italian Constitution, specifically citing Articles 3 and 34 regarding equality and the universal right to education.

In addition to the act of removal, the union criticized the principal for a lack of dialogue with students, who reportedly attempted to engage in a constructive discussion regarding the matter but were met with disinterest. The union described the incident as a grave pedagogical and institutional failure.
