Crotto to host 11th Peasant Woman Festival
The town of Crotto, located in the Tapalqué district, will host the eleventh edition of the Fiesta de la Mujer Campesina (Peasant Woman Festival) on Sunday, August 16. The event, which offers free admission, will take place at Plaza Malvinas Argentinas starting at 10:00 AM.
Originally conceived as a school project by students and teachers at Escuela Secundaria N.º 1 Anexo Crotto to honor the role of rural women, the festival has grown into a significant cultural and tourist event. In 2016, the Chamber of Deputies of the Province of Buenos Aires declared it an event of provincial interest.
The program includes a protocol ceremony to recognize rural women, a traditional parade of women on horseback, an artisan and entrepreneur fair, guided tours, workshops, and musical performances. Lala Baciocco, the Director of Tourism for Tapalqué, noted that the festival honors the knowledge, effort, and sacrifices of women in the agricultural sector while celebrating those who choose to live and work in rural communities.
