Crown Prince Akishino visits Paraguay to mark 90 years of Japanese immigration

Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko of Japan have arrived in Paraguay to commemorate the 90th anniversary of Japanese immigration to the country. The royal visit includes official ceremonies in Asunción and a visit to the district of La Colmena in the Paraguarí Department, a historic site where Japanese settlers first established themselves in 1936.

During his visit to La Colmena, the Crown Prince praised the contributions of Japanese immigrants and their descendants to Paraguayan society, particularly in the agricultural sector. The visit follows a period of increasing economic cooperation between Asunción and Tokyo, including agreements aimed at protecting investments and attracting Japanese capital to Paraguay.

The royal couple participated in celebrations attended by Paraguayan President Santiago Peña and the First Lady, marking a significant symbolic and economic milestone in the bilateral relationship.
