Crown Prince Christian celebrates 21st birthday and receives royal honor
Crown Prince Christian of Denmark celebrated his 21st birthday on October 15, 2026. To mark the milestone, King Frederik X awarded him the Grand Commander Cross of the Order of Dannebrog, the highest grade of the order.
The Royal House released new official portraits of the Crown Prince wearing the red gala uniform of the Royal Life Guards for the first time. Christian, who has recently moved into his own apartment near the family residence in Copenhagen, has also achieved the rank of Second Lieutenant in the Danish Army.
His recent activities have included military training as a platoon leader and a period spent working on farms in East Africa. In recent interviews, the heir to the throne described the prospect of his future role as ‘surreal’ but noted he has been prepared for the responsibility since childhood.
