Crown Prince Haakon signals support for Marius Høiby

Crown Prince Haakon of Norway has sent a public signal of support for Marius Høiby, despite recent legal controversies involving the latter. Following intense criticism, the Crown Prince has included Høiby in significant royal family appearances, such as during the funeral procession for King Harald.

Høiby, who is part of the Norwegian royal family through his mother Mette-Marit, is currently in pretrial detention with an ankle monitor after being sentenced to four years in prison for several offenses, including two counts of rape. Despite the legal proceedings and public debate, royal expert Tove Taalesen suggests that the Crown Prince’s actions indicate a clear stance that Høiby remains a member of the family and should not be hidden from public view.
