Crown Princess Catharina-Amalia promoted to Sergeant

Dutch Crown Princess Catharina-Amalia has been promoted to the military rank of Sergeant following the completion of a naval course. The ceremony took place in the port of Den Helder aboard the sailing ship Statsraad Lehmkuhl.

As part of a long-standing tradition for cadet promotions, the 22-year-old princess was doused with a bucket of seawater in front of her fellow cadets. This maritime training follows a previous course she completed with the Air Force earlier this spring as part of her ongoing military education within the Dutch armed forces.
