Crown Princess Mette-Marit Recovers After Lung Transplant

Prince Haakon of Norway announced that Crown Princess Mette-Marit is recovering at home following a successful lung transplant. The update was given during a visit to Drammen where the prince met local residents and emergency workers. The Crown Princess, 52, was discharged from Oslo University Hospital after the surgery performed on 17 June by cardiothoracic surgeon Arnt Fiane at Rikshospitalet. She had been diagnosed with a rare form of pulmonary fibrosis in 2018 and was placed on the transplant waiting list earlier this year.

Medical officials said the operation went smoothly and that the next weeks will focus on medication adjustment, monitoring for complications and rehabilitation. Prince Haakon emphasized that while her condition is improving, the road to full recovery will be long.
