Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden visits Indonesia for UNDP mission
Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden is conducting a four-day visit to Indonesia in her capacity as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The itinerary focuses on sustainable development, climate action, and environmental preservation.
In Jakarta, the Princess reviewed the Biomedical and Genome Science Initiative (BGSi), a national program aimed at enhancing precision medicine and disease outbreak preparedness. She also met with female leaders to discuss Indonesia’s development progress.
In West Nusa Tenggara, specifically on the island of Lombok, the visit shifted toward environmental and digital health initiatives. The Princess participated in coral reef planting at Gili Meno to support marine biodiversity and explored the use of the SMILE digital application, which monitors immunization and vaccine logistics in remote areas. Additionally, she visited local creative industry hubs and met with communities recovering from the 2018 Lombok earthquake to observe UNDP-supported empowerment programs.
