Crowne Plaza Frankfurt faces abrupt closure over safety concerns
The Crowne Plaza Frankfurt Congress Hotel is reportedly closing its operations abruptly. According to the food and gastronomy union NGG, employees were notified verbally on a Monday morning that operations would cease that same day. The closure is allegedly due to significant safety deficiencies, specifically regarding fire protection and sprinkler systems. Reports also indicate the presence of asbestos and water damage in parts of the building. The NGG has leveled serious accusations against management, noting that the works council chair and deputy were dismissed without notice and banned from the premises.
In other regional developments, Potsdam has released a preliminary draft for a new development plan regarding the Griebnitzsee shore. The plan aims to establish a continuous public waterfront path while balancing nature, history, and private property.
In Troisdorf, the city is seeking 20 participants to help shape its Smart City strategy through an interactive workshop. Meanwhile, in Gera, construction has begun on three new interactive digital play devices for the Hofwiesenpark, which are expected to be installed by autumn 2026.
