CRPF records first year without operational fatalities in 47 years
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has achieved a significant milestone, recording 12 consecutive months without an operational fatality. Director General G. P. Singh noted that this is the first time such a period has occurred since January 1979.
Singh attributed this achievement to the provision of contemporary hardware, enhanced training, strategic planning, and improved post-incident response, specifically the high-speed evacuation of injured personnel to medical facilities. This milestone comes while the force remains intensely deployed in major operational theatres.
Despite this operational success, the force faces ongoing challenges regarding personnel suicides. The National Human Rights Commission recently took notice of reports indicating that 19 personnel died by suicide between January and May 2026, following a period in 2025 where 59 suicides were recorded.
