CRPF personnel dies by suicide at Ranchi headquarters

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel died on Sunday after shooting himself with his service rifle at the CRPF headquarters in Tiril, Ranchi.

The deceased has been identified as Bhuneshwar Pal, a resident of Imaliatikar village in the Palamu district. According to police, the incident occurred while he was on duty, causing immediate panic within the headquarters due to the sound of gunfire.

Police recovered two spent cartridge cases from the scene and have engaged a forensic science laboratory team to collect fingerprints and technical evidence. While the motive remains unclear, preliminary information from colleagues suggests that Pal had been experiencing mental stress in recent days. Authorities are currently investigating whether personal or family issues contributed to the incident. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
