Crude oil tanker catches fire on Mumbai-Pune Expressway

A crude oil tanker caught fire on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway near Khalapur on Saturday after an alleged failure of its braking system. The vehicle was traveling from Pune toward Mumbai when the driver experienced mechanical issues, causing the tanker to lose control and overturn.

The driver was briefly trapped inside the overturned cabin but was successfully rescued without serious injuries. Personnel from the Khopoli Municipal Fire Brigade responded to the scene with fire tenders and managed to extinguish the flames, preventing the fire from spreading further along the busy expressway. Authorities are awaiting further details regarding the extent of the damage to the tanker.
