Cruden completes Gorebridge housing and secures Bathgate site

Cruden has completed a £17.5 million residential development in Gorebridge on behalf of Midlothian Council. The project, supported by £4.275 million in Scottish Government More Homes grant funding, has delivered 75 new council homes at the Newbyres site. The properties include a mix of flats and houses, featuring specialized units such as 10 extra care homes, two bariatric homes, and a four-bedroom wheelchair-accessible house.

The Newbyres site holds historical significance, as previous council homes were demolished in 2016 due to carbon dioxide levels linked to former mining works. The new development utilizes air source heat pumps and high-performance insulation to ensure energy efficiency.

In a separate development, Cruden has secured a new site in Bathgate to deliver 103 homes for private sale, subject to planning consent. This project aims to repurpose a long-standing brownfield site overlooking Bathgate Golf Club, marking the company's fourth planning application in the West Lothian area.
