Cruise industry expands from short regional trips to global expeditions

The cruise industry is expanding its offerings to cater to diverse traveler profiles, ranging from short luxury escapes to multi-month global expeditions.

Silversea has announced a 132-day world cruise itinerary for 2028 titled ‘An Ode to the Moment’. Departing from Miami and concluding in Nice, the voyage will visit 58 ports across five continents and 29 countries. The route includes stops in the Caribbean, South America, Africa, Asia, and Europe.

Other market segments focus on accessibility and regional travel. Costa Cruceros offers short 3-to-5-day trips from Buenos Aires, as well as week-long itineraries through Brazil and Uruguay. Additionally, Norwegian Cruise Line provides longer journeys through the Caribbean and South America, including destinations such as Ushuaia and the Falkland Islands.
