Cruise industry trends highlight themed voyages and seasickness prevention

The cruise industry is seeing a rise in specialized themed voyages and practical passenger considerations. For travelers prone to seasickness, cabin selection is critical. To minimize the sensation of movement, passengers should choose cabins located mid-ship and on lower decks. The bow and stern experience more significant motion, such as pitching, compared to the center of the vessel.

Simultaneously, themed cruises are becoming a growing trend for 2027. Notable upcoming offerings include Hurtigruten’s ‘Knitting & Sea’ voyage along the Norwegian coast, featuring workshops and influencer meetups. Royal Caribbean is hosting a ‘Star Trek: The Cruise X’ in the Caribbean, which is already sold out. Other niche markets include textile-free cruises organized by Bare Necessities and various other interest-based itineraries.
