Cruise industry updates: Costa Crociere promotions and Selar's eco-friendly debut
Costa Crociere has launched the ‘Winter Super Promo’ campaign to encourage early bookings for cruises scheduled through September 2027. The initiative offers a 50% discount on beverage and excursion packages for bookings confirmed between September 9 and November 3, 2026. Additionally, the company is offering a ‘Cambia Gratis’ option, allowing travelers to secure bookings with a 100 euro deposit per person and modify dates or routes without penalties for departures through May 31, 2027. Planned itineraries include the Canary Islands, the Caribbean, and the Western Mediterranean.
In the expedition sector, the French startup Selar is set to debut in Norway in February 2026 with its vessel, the Captain Arctic. Designed for Arctic voyages between Norway and Greenland, the 36-passenger ship utilizes wind, solar power, and batteries to achieve nearly zero emissions, reducing output by approximately 90% compared to conventional ships. The vessel will use biofuel-powered electric motors as a backup. Selar aims to provide a non-traditional experience with flexible itineraries and unconventional hospitality styles.
