Crunchyroll integrates anime streaming into BMW, Mercedes, and Volkswagen vehicles

Crunchyroll has entered a strategic agreement to integrate its anime streaming service into the infotainment systems of various connected vehicles. Through a partnership with Appning, the automotive software platform from FORVIA, the service will be available on the digital dashboards of several major manufacturers.

The rollout will initially target BMW and MINI models before expanding to other brands within the BMW Group and potentially over 40 other automotive manufacturers, including Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Lotus, and SAIC Motor. The integration aims to provide users with access to Crunchyroll’s extensive catalog, which includes over 50,000 episodes and 25,000 hours of content.

To ensure driver safety, the application will be subject to strict technical guidelines. The service will be disabled while the vehicle is in motion and will only be accessible when the car is parked. The content is primarily intended for passengers and for use within the vehicle's designated entertainment environments.
