Cruz Azul clinches 10th Liga MX title in Clausura 2026

Cruz Azul secured its tenth Liga MX championship by defeating Pumas UNAM in the Clausura 2026 final. The victory sparked celebrations among players, staff and supporters, including a viral chant directed at Pumas that quoted, “Where are those kittens that were going to beat us?”.

Coach Joel Huiqui announced that the entire squad will be on vacation until June 18, with the exception of Willer Ditta, who will join the Colombian national team for the World Cup. Huiqui also indicated that his own contract will be extended for two more seasons with a salary increase, confirming his continued role after the title.

The win marks a significant milestone for the club and sets the stage for the upcoming Apertura tournament.
