Cruz Azul negotiates Erik Lira transfer to AS Monaco

AS Monaco has submitted a formal offer to sign Cruz Azul midfielder Erik Lira. Reports indicate the French club has proposed between 5 and 6 million dollars for the player, though Cruz Azul management is seeking a higher amount, reportedly between 7 and 8 million dollars, before finalizing the sale.

Lira has previously expressed a preference for playing in Europe, having declined a higher offer from Al Jazira in the United Arab Emirates. If the transfer to Monaco is completed, Cruz Azul intends to use the funds to pursue Mexican national team defender César Montes. The club had previously engaged in negotiations with Lokomotiv Moscow for Montes, but the deal stalled because the Russian club requested approximately 10 million euros.
