Cruz Azul aims to keep champion squad for Apertura 2026

Cruz Azul celebrated its tenth Liga MX title after winning the Clausura 2026, and fans voted three of its players into the tournament's ideal XI. The selected lineup includes goalkeeper Keylor Nava, defender Willer Ditta and midfielder Rodolfo Rotondi, among others.

Head coach Joel Huiqui, who was recently honored by the Puebla State Congress, told the press he intends to maintain the core of the championship‑winning team for the upcoming Apertura 2026. He said, “Yo quisiera mantener el equipo porque fue el que ganó la copa y darle continuidad, obviamente reforzar algunas zonas,” and indicated that a meeting with the club’s sporting director and president is pending before finalising any roster changes.
