Cruz Roja headquarters in Ferrol vandalized with xenophobic graffiti

The Red Cross headquarters and one of its vehicles in Ferrol, Spain, were vandalized with xenophobic and racist graffiti. The messages, sprayed in red, included insults such as ‘Traidores’, ‘ONG antiespañoles’, and ‘Mafia de la invasión’, linking the attacks to the crisis in Ceuta.

Local political leaders, including Ferrol Mayor José Manuel Rey Varela, have condemned the acts. The mayor expressed solidarity with the NGO workers and called for social peace amidst a period of high polarization. Opposition groups, including BNG and Ferrol en Común, also denounced the graffiti, with the latter describing the messages as fascist.

This incident follows similar targeted actions at the same location in April, when racist stickers with slogans such as ‘Remigración’ were discovered. Red Cross officials have declined to make detailed public statements but confirmed they will proceed with cleaning the site to continue their daily humanitarian activities.
