Cruzeiro and Atlético-MG draw 1-1 in Copa do Brasil quarterfinal

Cruzeiro and Atlético-MG played to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the 2026 Copa do Brasil quarterfinals at the Mineirão stadium. Keny Arroyo opened the scoring for Cruzeiro in the 14th minute with a long-range shot, but Renan Lodi equalized for Atlético-MG in the 24th minute.

The match was characterized by high physical intensity and several injuries. Atlético-MG defender Ruan Tressoldi was taken from the stadium by ambulance to a hospital in Belo Horizonte after a collision during an aerial duel. Additionally, Cruzeiro's Bruno Rodrigues suffered facial and rib fractures following a collision with goalkeeper Éverson, and defender Jonathan Jesus left the match with a shoulder injury.

The second leg is scheduled to take place at the Arena MRV on September 1. If the teams draw again, the winner will be decided via penalty kicks.
