Brazil judicial system processes multiple high-profile criminal trials

Various judicial proceedings and criminal investigations are moving forward across Brazil. In São Paulo, the court has scheduled a jury trial for October 5 to 9 for ten Corinthians supporters accused of the 2012 murders of two Palmeiras fans. To ensure security, the judge has split the process, with Palmeiras supporters facing trial at a later date and a ban on wearing club-related apparel in court.

In other São Paulo cases, three suspects involved in the attempted murder of a Rota lieutenant remain in temporary detention while investigations continue. Meanwhile, two former military police officers, Adriano Fernandes de Campos and Gilberto Eric Rodrigues, were acquitted by a jury in the death of a 15-year-old boy from 2020.

In Paraíba, three defendants accused of killing a six-year-old girl in Patos were released due to excessive pretrial detention time, with their jury trial rescheduled for February 2027. In Maceió, six military police officers are set to face trial in October regarding the 2019 death of a man inside a residence. Additionally, a criminal court in Cruzeiro has set a November date for the trial of four men accused of killing a churros vendor in 2022. In Minas Gerais, a police clerk faces a new jury trial for the 2016 killing of a musician, and in Vila Velha, a couple is being tried for the torture and murder of their two-year-old son.
