Cruzeiro do Sul revitalizes Acre's oldest public building
The oldest public building in Acre, which houses the Juruá Cultural Center (also known as the Justice Museum) in Cruzeiro do Sul, is scheduled for reopening on October 1 following an extensive revitalization project.
Constructed between 1904 and 1909, the 117-year-old structure originally served as the administration headquarters for the Department of Alto Juruá. The renovation, managed by the Court of Justice of the State of Acre, focused on reinforcing the building's infrastructure while preserving its original architectural characteristics, including the restoration of historical ornaments known as lambrequins.
Following the reopening, the center will expand its visiting hours from 7:00 to 17:00. The facility provides guided tours, history lectures, and judicial activities such as jury simulations for students and tourists.
