Cruzeiro do Sul: Two brothers missing in Juruá River

Two brothers, José Araújo da Silva, 11, and Davi Araújo da Silva, 8, disappeared in the Juruá River in Cruzeiro do Sul on Sunday, August 9. The incident occurred around 5:00 PM at a beach in the Remanso neighborhood while the children were playing ball with an uncle.

The Fire Department (Corpo de Bombeiros) initiated search operations on Sunday evening, which were temporarily suspended at night for safety reasons. Search efforts resumed on Monday morning, focusing on the area where the children were last seen.

The tragedy has deeply affected the local community. Both the Escola Diocesana São José, where José was a student, and the Escola Estadual Cívico-Militar Madre Adelgunde Becker, where Davi studied, announced the suspension of classes on Monday to honor the victims and support the grieving families.
