Crvena zvezda defeats Železničar 2-1 in delayed Superliga match

Crvena zvezda secured a 2-1 victory against Železničar in a delayed fifth-round match of the Serbian Superliga held in Pančevo. Miloš Veljković opened the scoring for the visitors in the 13th minute, but Železničar equalized in first-half stoppage time through a header by Mirko Milikić following a free kick by Simao Pedro.

Despite Železničar creating several dangerous opportunities in the second half, substitute Loizos Loizou secured the win for Crvena zvezda with a precise strike in the 89th minute. The victory keeps Crvena zvezda at the top of the Superliga table with 25 points.

Following the match, head coach Albert Rijera expressed mixed emotions, noting that while the three points were vital, the team struggled with decision-making in the final third and failed to capitalize on earlier chances. He also highlighted the challenges of playing on an artificial surface with limited preparation time due to injuries in the squad.
