Crvena Zvezda ultras target Mirlind Daku in protest

Ultras of the Serbian football club Crvena Zvezda displayed a provocative banner during the Belgrade derby against Partizan to criticize the signing of Albanian striker Mirlind Daku by Spartak Moscow.

The banner, displayed at the Rajko Mitić Stadium, read: “An Albanian in the club, a disgrace for Spartak!” The reaction from the supporters follows Daku’s recent €11 million transfer from Rubin Kazan to Spartak Moscow.

Reports suggest the hostility stems from the player's previous actions during the 2024 European Championship, specifically perceived insults directed toward Macedonian or Serbian interests. Despite the controversy, Daku has maintained a strong start to his tenure in Russia, recording a goal and two assists for Spartak Moscow.
