Crypto-aligned PAC spends $11.4 million in Ohio Senate race

The Defend American Jobs PAC, an entity affiliated with the cryptocurrency-backed group Fairshake, has spent $11.4 million on advertising for the Ohio Senate race. The media buys are designed to support Republican Jon Husted and oppose Democrat Sherrod Brown.

Fairshake, which receives support from major industry players such as Coinbase and Ripple Labs, has pledged a total of $30 million toward efforts to prevent Brown from returning to the Senate. Brown, a former chair of the Senate Banking Committee, has been a prominent figure in discussions regarding financial regulation and cryptocurrency policy.

This expenditure follows a highly competitive 2024 Senate contest in Ohio, where crypto-aligned PACs spent approximately $41 million to oppose Brown. In that election, Republican Bernie Moreno won the seat with 50.2% of the vote.
