Paradigm launches $1.2 billion AI-focused fund while keeping crypto bets alive

Venture firm Paradigm announced the closing of a $1.2 billion fourth fund aimed at the “technical frontier,” covering artificial intelligence, crypto, robotics and related deep‑tech sectors. Co‑founder Matt Huang said the capital will back “the most ambitious builders at the frontier of technology,” emphasizing that the firm will continue to invest in crypto infrastructure while expanding into AI and robotics.

The fund’s launch comes as crypto‑focused venture capital fundraising has halved in 2026, with only eight new crypto funds raising about $1.1 billion in Q1, while AI investment momentum rises. Paradigm’s move is seen as a signal of the broader shift toward AI‑centric opportunities, though the firm maintains its crypto commitments across existing funds. The new vehicle targets projects from seed‑stage protocols to more mature companies, including hybrid initiatives that blend cryptography, machine intelligence and robotics.
