Crypto leaders urge rapid adoption to prevent future regulatory shifts

At the Token2049 conference in Singapore, Digital Asset CEO Yuval Rooz urged the cryptocurrency industry to accelerate institutional adoption to create a level of usage that would be difficult for future governments to reverse. Rooz suggested that by entrenching blockchain technology into the economy now, the industry could avoid being undone by potential shifts in U.S. political priorities following the 2028 presidential election. He compared this strategy to the rise of platforms like Uber and Airbnb, which became too widespread for policymakers to effectively restrict.

Industry leaders expressed varying views on the legislative landscape. Binance co-CEO Richard Teng noted that the passage of the CLARITY Act remains a priority to prevent regulatory backtracking, which he described as a major industry fear. Meanwhile, Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson advised firms not to rely solely on the passage of the CLARITY Act, noting that the SEC and CFTC are already active in providing regulatory frameworks under their existing authorities.
