Crypto markets face $1.9 billion in scheduled token unlocks
Cryptocurrency markets are preparing for a significant period of supply changes, with more than $1.913 billion in scheduled token unlocks expected over the coming month. According to data from Tokenomist, 32 different assets have releases valued at over $10 million each.
The upcoming unlocks are divided into two primary mechanics: cliff events and linear emissions. Thirteen assets are subject to cliff unlocks, which are one-time releases of a large block of tokens. Hyperliquid’s HYPE represents one of the most significant cliff events, with an estimated release worth approximately $331.7 million allocated to core contributors.
In contrast, 19 assets will undergo linear emissions, where tokens are released progressively according to a vesting schedule. Solana (SOL) and RAIN are leading this category. Solana’s $232 million in unlocks will be distributed gradually, with roughly $7.52 million released per day over a 30-day period.
Analysts note that while these unlocks increase the amount of transferable supply, they do not necessarily equate to immediate market selling. The actual impact on market liquidity depends on the circulating float, the type of recipients, and whether the tokens are actually claimed and sold.
