Crypto wealth: 742 million people now hold digital assets
According to the Henley & Partners ‘Crypto Wealth Report 2026’, the global population of cryptocurrency holders has expanded to approximately 742 million people. Of this group, about 371 million hold Bitcoin, accounting for nearly half of all crypto users.
The report estimates there are 135,694 crypto millionaires globally, with 92,272 of them holding Bitcoin. At the highest tier, an estimated 290 individuals hold at least $100 million in crypto assets, 151 of whom are Bitcoin holders. The report notes that while Bitcoin prices have fluctuated, the user base continues to grow, signaling a shift from a concentrated speculative market to a broader asset class.
As of late August 2026, the total cryptocurrency market capitalization was valued at approximately $2.62 trillion, with Bitcoin representing $1.56 trillion of that total.
