Cryptocurrency adoption grows in sports betting and payment card sectors
The adoption of cryptocurrency is expanding across digital financial services, notably in online sports betting and consumer payments. In the sports betting sector, many licensed operators now accept digital assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT. While traditional sportsbooks often use crypto as a deposit method to be converted to fiat, crypto-native platforms like Dexsport allow users to maintain balances in cryptocurrency and utilize blockchain networks for rapid transactions.
Simultaneously, the crypto payment card market is experiencing significant growth. Monthly volumes have reached $759 million, with stablecoin spending increasing 2.5 times year-over-year. This surge is largely driven by the use of stablecoins like Tether (USDT) and USD Coin (USDC), which provide a more stable medium for everyday transactions. Major payment networks, led by Visa, have expanded their blockchain solutions, facilitating seamless conversions from crypto to fiat at the point of sale. The market is projected to grow from $2.1 billion in 2025 to $12.68 billion by 2035.
