Cryptocurrency market sees rise in non-dollar stablecoins and altcoins
The cryptocurrency market is experiencing a shift in dynamics, characterized by the rise of non-dollar stablecoins and increased activity in altcoins. Research from CEX.IO indicates that stablecoins pegged to currencies such as the euro, Brazilian real, and Swiss franc are growing rapidly. While the total market for dollar-pegged stablecoins saw a decline of 1.8 percent to approximately 300 billion dollars, the market for non-dollar stablecoins grew by about 29 percent, rising from 1.38 billion dollars in January to 1.79 billion dollars by mid-August.
In the broader altcoin market, Solana has emerged as a significant performer, rising over 35 percent since last week. This growth is supported by high network activity, including a record 4.2 billion transactions processed last month, and an influx of 100 million euros into Solana funds in August. Additionally, trading volume for altcoins on the Binance exchange reached a two-year high of 65 percent. Meanwhile, Bitcoin and Ethereum have seen more modest gains, with Bitcoin trading around 68,000 euros.
