Cryptocurrency markets face institutional shifts and technical upgrades

The cryptocurrency market is experiencing significant technical and institutional shifts. Bitcoin remains a subject of debate regarding long-term price targets; while some experts predict values exceeding $1 million by 2030, others argue such growth is mathematically impossible due to required capital inflows.

Institutional uncertainty is rising as MSCI reviews the potential exclusion of companies like Strategy and Metaplanet from its indices. Strategy expects 3 to 4 percent of its shares could be affected, though CEO Phong Le estimates the impact on Bitcoin at approximately 0.1 percent. A decision is expected in mid-October.

In the technical sector, Solana is advancing with the Agave-v4.2 upgrade, which aims to halve slot time to 200 milliseconds and reduce on-chain rent by roughly 90 percent. Additionally, Solana spot ETFs saw inflows of $10.26 million in a single week. Other developments include the planned FLOP airdrop by Arthur Hayes and regulatory progress, such as Blockchain.com operating within Nigeria’s ARIP sandbox program.
