Cryptocurrency recurring purchase investments reach 972.9 billion won in South Korea

Cumulative investment in South Korean cryptocurrency recurring purchase services, which automatically buy digital assets at set intervals, reached 972.9 billion won as of late August. This represents a 78.9% increase from the end of last year.

Data submitted to the National Assembly Political Affairs Committee by major exchanges shows that Upbit dominates the market, accounting for 92.3% of the total cumulative investment with 897.7 billion won. The total number of users across participating exchanges—Upbit, Coinone, and Korbit—has surpassed 337,000.

While Upbit maintains a massive lead, other exchanges showed significant growth. Coinone's cumulative investment rose sharply from 612 million won at the end of last year to 11.95 billion won by August, a nearly 20-fold increase. Korbit's investment grew from 48.18 billion won to 63.26 billion won.

User demographics varied by platform: Upbit's largest user group is in their 30s, Coinone's in their 40s, and Korbit's in their 50s. Reported cumulative return rates as of late August were 13.6% for Korbit and 2.5% for Coinone, while Upbit stated it was difficult to calculate a total service return rate due to varying user parameters.
