Cryptocurrency wallets expand into digital payments and real-world assets
Cryptocurrency wallets are evolving from simple storage tools into comprehensive payment and asset management platforms. The growth in crypto wallet payments is driven by increased cryptocurrency adoption, the use of stablecoins, and the development of more user-friendly payment solutions that allow users to transfer value without relying solely on traditional banking systems.
A significant trend in the sector is the integration of Real-World Assets (RWA), such as tokenized stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs), into Web3 environments. Leading self-custodial wallets like OKX Wallet, Bitget Wallet, and MetaMask are competing to provide these services. While all three allow users to maintain control of their private keys, they differ in their approach to RWA; for instance, OKX Wallet has focused on integrating a risk-control framework for tokenized assets, while Bitget Wallet offers a broad selection of tokenized US stocks and ETFs.
