Crystal cruise line announces fleet updates and new ship details

Cruise line Crystal has announced several strategic updates regarding its fleet operations and leadership. Placido Libro, formerly the Director of Maritime Affairs, will assume the role of Captain on the Crystal Serenity starting August 14, 2026, sharing command with Captain Vincent Tallaird. Libro is also slated to captain the maiden voyage of the new build, Crystal Grace, in 2028.

Regarding fleet expansion, the company shared details for the upcoming Crystal Grace, scheduled for delivery in May 2028. A highlight of the new vessel is the 180-square-meter Owners Suite located at the stern, which features a 270-degree ocean view, a private veranda with a whirlpool, and high-end amenities such as Italian Lasa marble and a fireplace.

To maintain its position in the luxury segment, Crystal continues to emphasize premium passenger experiences. This includes a culinary partnership with Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa, featuring the Umi Uma restaurant, and special onboard programming, such as a Caribbean cruise in November 2026 featuring guest performer Vanessa Williams.
