Crystal Harris urges Jessica Biel to reconsider Playboy film role
Crystal Harris, the widow of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, has issued a public plea to actress Jessica Biel, asking her to reconsider her role in the upcoming film ‘Playmates’. Biel is cast to play a fictionalized version of Hefner’s wife in the project, which is written and directed by Lorraine Nicholson.
In a direct message shared on Instagram, Harris urged the actress not to participate if the film intends to ‘romanticize’ Hefner or the Playboy lifestyle. Harris, who was married to Hefner from 2012 until his death in 2017, alleged that she experienced sexual, emotional, financial, and physical abuse during their marriage. She further noted that other women have made allegations involving rape, coercion, drugging, and exploitation, and expressed concerns regarding the involvement of minors.
The film ‘Playmates’ features a cast including Bill Pullman as Hugh Hefner, Lily-Rose Depp, and Indiana Elle. The story is described as a coming-of-age tale set within the Playboy Mansion, following the friendship between a 13-year-old girl and an aspiring Playmate. While Biel’s character is fictional and not modeled after Hefner’s real-life wives, Harris maintains that Hollywood should listen to the women who lived through that era before turning it into nostalgia.
