Crystal Lake prequel series explores Friday the 13th origins

The prequel series ‘Crystal Lake’ has released its full trailer, serving as a precursor to the ‘Friday the 13th’ slasher franchise. The series will explore the backstory of Pamela Voorhees and the youth of Jason Voorhees.

Linda Cardellini stars as Pamela Voorhees, portrayed as a former singer who left her career to care for her son, Jason, who has special needs. The narrative follows her emotional descent after Jason’s apparent death in the lake. Callum Vinson will portray the young Jason Voorhees. The series is set to launch on streaming services such as Peacock on October 15.

Brad Caleb Kane serves as showrunner, with direction from Michael Lennox, Celine Held, Logan George, and Quyen Tran. The production marks a significant attempt to revitalize the franchise, which has not seen a major film release since the 2009 remake.
