Crystal Lake prequel series premieres on Universal+

The prequel series ‘Crystal Lake’, based on the ‘Friday the 13th’ franchise, has premiered exclusively on Universal+. The eight-episode production is created by Brad Caleb Kane and stars Linda Cardellini as Pam Voorhees.

The series explores the origin of Pam Voorhees, a single mother struggling with the grief of her son Jason’s tragic drowning. The plot follows the mysterious events that unfold when strangers arrive to investigate her past, threatening the town of Crystal Lake.

Showrunner Brad Caleb Kane has expressed interest in developing a second season. He noted plans to expand the narrative beyond Pam and Jason to explore secondary characters such as Officer Dorff, Trudy, and Ralph, potentially creating an atmosphere similar to ‘Twin Peaks’.
