Crystal Lake prequel series to explore Friday the 13th origins

A24 and Peacock are set to release ‘Crystal Lake’, an eight-episode prequel series to the ‘Friday the 13th’ franchise. The series, which premieres on October 15, 2026, explores the origins of Pamela Voorhees and her son, Jason, set in 1970s New Jersey.

Starring Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees and Callum Vinson as young Jason, the show follows the aftermath of Jason’s drowning at Camp Crystal Lake. The narrative focuses on Pamela’s grief and the personal circumstances that lead to her transformation into the character known from the original films. The series is expected to feature a visceral and dark tone, utilizing practical gore to establish its atmosphere.

Created by showrunner Brad Caleb Kane and executive produced by original creator Victor Miller, the series will feature multiple directors, including Logan George, Celine Held, Quyen Tran, and Michael Lennox. All eight episodes will be released simultaneously on Peacock.
