Manchester City beat Crystal Palace 4-1 with Haaland and Cherki braces

Manchester City secured a dominant 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park during the second round of the 2026/27 Premier League season. The win, led by manager Enzo Maresca, keeps City at the top of the table with six points from two matches.

Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki each scored twice to lead the attack. Haaland opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a header following a cross from Antoine Semenyo. Cherki, making a strong impression in his recent starts, scored in the 54th minute after a solo run and added a third in the 59th minute with a powerful strike from outside the area.

Crystal Palace’s lone goal came via an unfortunate deflection off City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma following a free kick by Yeremy Pino. Haaland completed his brace in the 84th minute with a clinical finish assisted by Phil Foden. The defeat leaves Crystal Palace at the bottom of the league standings.
